Clipboard Checklist: Morning Inspector

Published on August 21, 2025
Somebody printed a checklist and took the job too far. Your elf is inspecting backpacks, breakfast, and attitudes like the North Pole sent a substitute principal. If you already have a posable holiday elf, skip to the recipe. If you don't, start with the setup kit.
Keep clipboards and pens on a table, not on the stairs, and skip metal clipboards if a toddler still throws things.
You Will Need This:
- • Your holiday elf
- • A clipboard, notepad, or sticky notes
- • A pen or crayon
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Scribble a tiny list
Write three items in big kid-friendly letters: socks, teeth, hugs. Kids laugh because the elf knows the real morning battles.
Step 2: Prop the clipboard
Lean it on the kitchen table or the backpack hook. The inspection post should be where the chaos actually happens.
Step 3: Seat the inspector
Sit the elf on the clipboard or right beside it, pen in hand, looking unimpressed. That “I have notes” face is the joke.
Step 4: Check one box
Mark only “hugs” as done. The unfinished list is what kids will argue about while putting on shoes.
Pro Tips:
- • Use the kid’s name at the top so it feels like a report card.
- • A sticky-note pad is enough if you do not own a clipboard.
- • Keep the real permission slips out of the gag pile.
- • Move the inspector before lunch so the list does not get used as scrap paper.
