The desk became an art studio. Your elf has a crayon in one hand, a terrible wonderful drawing in the other, and they are sure it looks just like you. If you already have a posable holiday elf, skip to the recipe. If you don't, start with the setup kit.

Cap or set aside markers that stain. One crayon on the paper is enough.

You Will Need This:

  • • Your holiday elf
  • • One crayon
  • • A sheet of paper
  • • The homework desk

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1: Start the canvas

Lay a clean sheet on the desk. Draw a big round head, two dot eyes, a smile, and a triangle hat. It should look like a kid, fast and silly.

Step 2: Leave the tool in hand

Rest the crayon so it can sit in the elf’s fist. A short crayon is easier to hold than a new long one.

Step 3: Pose the artist

Sit the elf at the paper, one hand holding the crayon on the drawing, the other hand pointing at the stick figure. Lean them in like the portrait is a masterpiece.

Step 4: Title the work

A sticky note that says “It’s you!” Kids can add the arms. The crayon goes back in the box after the signing.

Pro Tips:

  • • A bad drawing is the joke. A careful one looks like homework.
  • • The crayon has to touch the elf’s hand.
  • • Draw the hat the same color as the elf’s hat so the likeness lands.
  • • Face the paper toward the chair a kid uses.
