Marble Run Test: Cup-On-The-Table Trials

Quality control came to the toy table. Your elf is running trials on a tiny marble course, except the marble is sitting safely in a cup like a responsible scientist. It looks like action, it stays on the table, and nobody chases a glass ball down the stairs before school. If you already have a posable holiday elf, skip to the recipe. If you don't, start with the setup kit.
Keep the marble in a cup on the table, never loose and never on the stairs.
You Will Need This:
- • Your holiday elf
- • A table
- • A cup holding the marble
- • A book or ruler as a pretend ramp
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Stay on the table
Choose a table with a lip or a towel so nothing rolls off. Stairs, hallways, and hardwood ramps are out. If you have a real marble run, keep it fully on the tabletop.
Step 2: Marble in a cup
Drop the marble into a cup or mug and keep it there overnight. The “test” can be a ruler leaning toward the cup. Loose marbles are how the morning starts with a hunt.
Step 3: Pose the engineer
Sit your elf beside the cup with a serious measuring face. A second empty cup can be the “finish line.” Do not balance the marble on a track overnight.
Step 4: Pack the marble first
When kids wake up, you hold the cup. They can watch one supervised roll on the table if you want. Then the marble goes back in a jar with a lid.
