Dustpan Sled: Floor Cleanup Run

Cleanup turned into a luge track. Your elf is in the dustpan like it is a sled, looking thrilled about a chore nobody else volunteered for. If you already have a posable holiday elf, skip to the recipe. If you don't, start with the setup kit.
Use a clean dustpan on a clear floor, keep the broom beside it instead of across a walkway, and skip this in a high-traffic hall overnight.
You Will Need This:
- • Your holiday elf
- • A clean mini dustpan
- • A broom and dustpan set parked safely against a wall
- • Optional: mini dustpan and brush set if you want a dedicated sled so the real dustpan can stay on the job.
- • Optional: tiny flyer sled if you want a mini sled waiting at the bottom of the run.
- • Optional: bag of fake snow cotton if you want fluffy white snow on the track instead of cereal crumbs.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Sweep a tiny track
Clear a path along the cabinets so the “run” is obvious. A dustpan in the middle of a mess just looks like you gave up.
Step 2: Park the sled
Lay the dustpan flat, handle pointing downhill toward the fridge or table. Kids will call it a sled before you say a word.
Step 3: Load the rider
Sit the elf in the pan with knees bent, holding the handle. They should look like they are about to beat their own time.
Step 4: Add crumb snow
Leave three cereal crumbs in the pan as spray, then wipe the rest. A little debris sells the run; a dirty pan just looks gross.

- • A plastic dustpan is lighter and kinder to felt than metal.
- • Park the broom upright in a corner, never across the floor.
- • Do this after the kitchen is already swept so you are not staging in stickiness.
- • A sticky note that says “World record” is optional and very dad-joke.
