Vacuum Cord Lasso: Cleanup Cowboy

The vacuum needed wrangling, and your elf showed up as a cleanup cowboy. Unplug the vacuum, coil the cord into a lasso shape, and sit the elf like they just caught a very loud bull. It is a two-minute laundry-room or hallway scene that makes chores look like a rodeo. If you already have a posable holiday elf, skip to the recipe. If you don't, start with the setup kit.
Unplug the vacuum, coil the cord so it is not a trip line, and do not let kids climb on the vacuum.
You Will Need This:
- • Your holiday elf
- • A vacuum cleaner (unplugged)
- • The vacuum cord, coiled
- • A sticky notes sheriff badge
- • Optional: tiny upright vacuum if you want a little apprentice vacuum parked next to the real one.
- • Optional: pair of tiny cowboy hats if you want the elf dressed for the rodeo (they're sized for a 12-inch elf).
- • Optional: pack of yellow sticky notes if you want a sticky-note sheriff badge to match.
- • Optional: tiny rubber gloves if you want the cowboy in work gloves.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Unplug the bull
Unplug the vacuum and park it against a wall in the laundry room or hallway. Do not leave it in the middle of a walkway. Stick vacuums can stand; canister vacuums should sit stable.
Step 2: Coil the lasso
Coil the cord into a loose loop on the floor beside the vacuum, not stretched across the hallway. Leave the plug on top of the coil so it is obviously unplugged. A dustpan nearby can be a tiny saddle.
Step 3: Seat the cowboy
Sit your elf on the vacuum head or on the coiled cord with both hands on the loop. You can also stand them on the floor leaning back as if the cord is pulling. Do not wrap cord around the elf’s neck.
Step 4: Pin the sheriff note
Write “Vacuum tamed. Do not trip.” on a sticky note and stick it to the vacuum body. In the morning, let kids “help coil” the cord onto the hooks, then put the vacuum away. Plug it in only when you are actually cleaning.
Pro Tips:
- • A hallway corner is a better stage than the middle of the kitchen.
- • A yellow sticky-note star on the elf’s shirt is a sheriff badge.
- • Robot vacuums work if you sit the elf on top while the robot is off its charger and powered down.
- • If the cord is short, coil it on the vacuum body instead of the floor.
