Garland Jungle Gym: Mantel Climber

The garland turned into a jungle gym, and your elf is swinging like recess came early. The mantel is now a rope course with a very small athlete. If you already have a posable holiday elf, skip to the recipe. If you don't, start with the setup kit.
Keep flames off, do not drape garland where it can fall into a fireplace, and use a cool, unlit mantel only.
You Will Need This:
- • Your holiday elf
- • Mantel garland or a sturdy banner
- • The fireplace mantel (unlit)
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Confirm the fireplace is cold
No fire, no candles, no hot glass. This is a climbing gym, not a toasted-elf story.
Step 2: Find a thick garland loop
Pick a section that already drapes low enough to reach. You are using what is hanging, not installing a new hazard.
Step 3: Hook the gymnast
Hang the elf by the knees or sit them in a garland dip, one arm reaching for the next loop. Mid-swing is the laugh.
Step 4: Add a landing cushion
Set a throw pillow on the hearth below like a crash pad. Kids will point at the “safety equipment” like it is official.

- • Wired garland holds a pose better than flimsy tinsel.
- • A command hook already on the mantel can hide as a belay.
