Gumdrop Garden: Tiny Candy Patch

Somebody planted a garden that will never need weeding. Your elf is in a gumdrop patch on a plate, looking like the harvest is scheduled for snack time. If you already have a posable holiday elf, skip to the recipe. If you don't, start with the setup kit.
Use a plate, not the floor, and skip this if candy is a choking risk or you have a pet who steals sweets.
You Will Need This:
- • Your holiday elf
- • A small plate
- • A handful of gumdrops or similar candies
- • Optional: tiny potted flowers if you want a real-looking border around the candy patch.
- • Optional: tiny red shovel and rake if you want the gardener ready for harvest.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Make the garden bed
Scatter gumdrops on a plate in loose rows. Rows look planted; a pile looks like they dumped the bag.
Step 2: Plant one on a toothpick
If you are comfortable with toothpicks, stand one gumdrop as a sprout; otherwise just stack two. Kids understand “growing” either way.
Step 3: Seat the farmer
Sit the elf between rows with a gumdrop in their hands. They should look proud of a crop that took forty seconds.
Step 4: Add a watering can joke
Set a measuring spoon beside them like a watering can. The farming tools made of kitchen junk are the laugh.

- • A paper towel under the plate keeps sugar off the table.
- • Do this after dinner so the candy is a planned treat, not a free-for-all.
- • Skip toothpicks entirely with toddlers.
- • Toss sticky gumdrops after; they do not make a great second-day scene.
