Cocoa is already in the cupboard. Tonight the holiday elf set up a desk service with empty mugs and a tin. No marshmallows. No hot kettle. Two minutes on the desk or the end of the table. If you already have a posable holiday elf, skip to the recipe. If you don't, start with the setup kit.

Empty, cold mugs only. No hot liquid. Do not use marshmallows as the gag. Keep cocoa powder capped so it does not spill or get eaten by a toddler.

You Will Need This:

  • Your holiday elf
  • Two empty, dry mugs
  • The cocoa tin you already have
  • A spoon
  • Optional: a sticky note that says "Open" on the tin

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1: Set the desk

Clear a corner of the desk or the table. Set two mugs and the cocoa tin in a tight row. Caps on.

Step 2: Pose the elf

Sit the posable elf between the mugs, one hand on a spoon or the tin. They look like they are taking an order, not brewing.

Step 3: Add the tiny details

An "Open" note on the tin is enough. Leave marshmallows in the cupboard. That gag is already used up elsewhere.

Step 4: When kids find it

This lands on a cold morning or after homework. If anyone wants real cocoa, move the elf and use a kettle you are watching.

Pro Tips:

  • Cold mugs only. If you made cocoa tonight, wash first or skip.
  • A desk reads as "service." A stove reads as a burn risk.
  • Skip whipped cream and candy toppings. The tin and the mugs are the scene.
  • If the tin is a large tin, keep it at the back so it does not hide the elf.
