Sprinkle Snowstorm: Baking Counter Blizzard

Your elf opened the sprinkles and called it weather. Shake a tiny pinch onto a baking tray, sit the elf in the middle like they caused a blizzard, and put the lid back on the bottle before the whole kitchen turns into a bakery floor. It is a two-minute storm with a very easy cleanup if you keep it on the tray. If you already have a posable holiday elf, skip to the recipe. If you don't, start with the setup kit.
Use a pinch of sprinkles on a tray, not a pile kids will eat off the counter, and keep the bottle closed around toddlers.
You Will Need This:
- • Your holiday elf
- • A baking sheet or cutting board
- • A bottle of sprinkles
- • A measuring spoon
- • Optional: mini baking set if you want a doll-size tray already waiting for the blizzard.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Contain the storm
Set a rimmed baking sheet on the counter. If you do not have a rim, use a mixing bowl as the “sky” and sprinkle inside it. Keep the rest of the baking stuff in the cupboard so you are not also flour-bombing the room.
Step 2: Make a tiny blizzard
Use a measuring spoon to shake a pinch of sprinkles onto the tray, not a pour from the bottle. Leave most of the tray visible so it looks like snow, not a candy dump. Cap the bottle immediately.
Step 3: Sit the storm-maker
Sit your elf in a clear patch of tray with both arms out, as if they just finished summoning weather. You can also stand them in a measuring cup beside the tray. Face the kitchen doorway.
Step 4: Leave a weather alert
Write “Blizzard warning. Tray only.” on a sticky note and stick it to the backsplash. In the morning, let kids “shovel” sprinkles into a bowl for actual cookies, or dump the tray in the trash if you do not want floor sprinkles. Wipe the tray before you bake on it.

- • White or pale sprinkles look more like snow than rainbow jimmies.
- • A rimmed sheet is the difference between cute and a vacuum day.
- • Do this the night before you actually bake so the sprinkles can be reused.
- • Skip nonpareils if you have a toddler; they roll and they are a choking size.
