Produce Stand: Fruit Merchant

Published on August 27, 2026

Time: about 2 minutes.

The fruit bowl is already on the table. Tonight it is a produce stand. The holiday elf is selling what you already bought. Two minutes. The mini cart is optional if you want one shopper parked at the stand. If you already have a posable holiday elf, skip to the recipe. If you don't, start with the setup kit.

Wash anything kids might later eat. Whole grapes, cherry tomatoes, and berries are a choking hazard if they roll. Sit the elf on the bowl rim or the table, not in loose fruit.

You Will Need This:

  • • Your holiday elf
  • • The fruit bowl you already have
  • • Two or three pieces of larger fruit (apples, oranges, bananas)
  • • Optional: a sticky note price ("Apples: 1 hug")
  • • Optional: a mini shopping cart if you want a shopper at the stand

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1: Set the stand

Move the bowl to a clear patch of table. Pull two larger fruits to the front. Leave grapes and berries in the fridge if toddlers are in the house.

Step 2: Pose the elf

Sit the posable elf on the table beside the bowl, or on a sturdy rim if it does not tip. One hand on an apple is enough. They are the merchant, not buried in fruit.

Step 3: Add the tiny details

A paper price on the bowl is enough. If you use the mini cart, park it in front of the bowl with one banana or a napkin "bag" in it. This is produce, not a cereal aisle.

Step 4: When kids find it

They find it at breakfast or snack. Wash the fruit you staged before anyone eats it.

Pro Tips:

  • • Apples and oranges hold still. Grapes do not.
  • • If the bowl is a tippy wire basket, keep the elf on the table.
  • • You do not need a tablecloth market. The bowl is the stand.
  • • The cart is extra. Skip it if you do not have it.
