Ribbon Bungee Jump: Wrapping Station Stunt

The wrapping station needed a stunt double, and your elf volunteered for a ribbon bungee jump. Tie a ribbon to a chair back or gift box, let it hang like a cord, and pose the elf mid-leap without taping the doll. It looks daring. It is actually a two-minute sit-and-dangle. Do not tape the doll, keep ribbon off necks, and tie the ribbon to furniture rather than to the elf’s body.

- • A length of curling ribbon
- • A gift box or wrapping-paper tube
- • A chair back or table edge
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Claim the wrapping station
Set a gift box and a wrapping-paper tube on a table or the floor beside a chair. Keep scissors closed and away from the edge. If you have a roll of real wrapping paper, stand it nearby as the “cliff.”
Step 2: Hang the bungee
Tie a ribbon to the chair back or around the gift box, not around the elf. Let a loop hang down like a cord. Curl the ends with a scissor blade if you want extra spring, keeping kids away from the scissors.
Step 3: Pose the jumper
Sit or hang your elf so they look mid-jump, holding the ribbon with both hands. Do not tape felt, hair, or clothing. If they will not stay, sit them on the box with legs dangling over the side and the ribbon in their lap.
Step 4: Leave the stunt waiver
Write “Professionals only. Do not copy.” on a sticky note and stick it to the box. In the morning, let kids “spot” the jumper, then coil the ribbon back into the wrapping bin. Put scissors away before anyone tries a real jump off the chair.

- • A dining chair with a slatted back is an easy, stable tie-off.
