The snack drawer was due for an audit, and your elf brought a clipboard energy with none of the paperwork. Open the drawer, sit them on a granola-bar box, and leave a sticky-note tally. It is a two-minute kitchen surprise that feels like they caught you hiding the good crackers. If you already have a posable holiday elf, skip to the recipe. If you don't, start with the setup kit.
Do not pile loose choking-size candy for toddlers, keep the drawer from slamming on fingers, and skip unwrapped treats the elf sat on.
You Will Need This:
- • Your holiday elf
- • The snack drawer or pantry bin
- • A granola bar or cracker box
- • A sticky-note inventory list
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Open a tidy drawer
Open the snack drawer or pull out a pantry bin so it cannot slam shut on the elf. Push glass jars to the back. Keep loose candy in sealed bags, not in a mound on the drawer floor.
Step 2: Stage the inventory
Stand one granola-bar box and one cracker box like they are being counted. Leave a gap in the middle as a seat. If the drawer is deep, use the kid-height snack bin on the counter instead.
Step 3: Seat the scout
Sit your elf on the granola-bar box with a sticky note in both hands like a checklist. You can also stand them behind a box peeking over the top. Face the kitchen so the first person hunting snacks sees the auditor.
Step 4: Leave the tally
Write “Crackers: 4. Cookies: classified.” on a sticky note and stick it to the inside of the drawer. In the morning, let kids “check” one item, then close the drawer so it is not a toddler buffet. Put any elf-handled box back without serving food off the felt.
