The candy stash had a visitor, and the visitor is now “helping” with cleanup. Your elf is sitting in a nest of wrappers, looking like the mess got bigger the harder they tried. If you already have a posable holiday elf, skip to the recipe. If you don't, start with the setup kit.
Use empty wrappers only, keep real candy in a closed container if you have toddlers, and skip choking-size sweets on the counter.
You Will Need This:
- • Your holiday elf
- • A few empty candy wrappers
- • A small bowl or trash cup
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Make a tiny crime scene
Crumple three or four empty wrappers on the counter beside the candy jar. It should look like a snack attack, not a recycling bin explosion.
Step 2: Give them a “trash” cup
Set a ramekin or paper cup as the cleanup bin, with only one wrapper successfully inside. Kids howl because the effort is so visible and so bad.
Step 3: Sit the manager in the mess
Plop the elf in the leftover wrappers with one crumpled piece in their hands. Caught mid-tidy is funnier than a tidy counter.
Step 4: Leave the jar almost closed
Rest the candy-jar lid half on. The unfinished cover-up is the punchline: they almost got away with it.
Pro Tips:
- • Save wrappers from last night’s treat instead of opening new candy.
- • A sticky note that says “I can explain” is optional and excellent.
- • Keep chocolate out if the kitchen is warm; wrappers tell the story alone.
- • Wipe sticky spots so the elf does not become a lint magnet.
