Do not prop a broom where it can fall. Put chemical bottles on a high shelf or out of the frame so kids do not grab them. Do not block the closet door.

- • The broom closet or the hall cupboard that holds the broom
- • A dustpan, a bucket, or a low shelf
- • Optional: a sticky note that says "On break"
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Set the closet
Open the door. Move bottles up or out. Stand the broom so it cannot fall into the doorway. Clear a sit spot on the bucket or a shelf.
Step 2: Pose the elf
Sit the posable elf on the bucket or the shelf, leaning on the dustpan like a lunch break. Do not tape them to the broom handle.
Step 3: Add the tiny details
An "On break" note on the dustpan is enough. Leave the door cracked so kids see the scene without digging through bleach.
Step 4: When kids find it
They find it when someone goes for the broom, or when they notice the door is ajar. Close it after the morning if that closet has anything they should not touch.
