Hamper Hockey: Laundry Goal Shot

Laundry became a hockey game, and the hamper is the net. Your elf is mid-shot with a rolled sock, looking like overtime started in the hallway. If you already have a posable holiday elf, skip to the recipe. If you don't, start with the setup kit.
Keep the hamper on the floor so it cannot tip from a dresser, and do not leave socks on the stairs.
You Will Need This:
- • Your holiday elf
- • A laundry hamper
- • One or two rolled socks
- • Optional: tiny white laundry basket if you want a mini goal sitting next to the real hamper.
- • Optional: desktop mini hockey set if you want the elf holding an actual stick, with a little net to aim at.
- • Optional: six-pack of doll socks if you want the elf in team colors.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Set the net
Park the hamper on the floor with the opening facing the hall. Kids see a goal the second it is not against the wall the usual way.
Step 2: Roll the puck
Roll a sock into a tight ball. One puck is funny; a blizzard of socks is just more laundry.
Step 3: Pose the shooter
Stand the elf a foot away, sock in both hands like a slap shot. Frozen follow-through is what makes kids cheer.
Step 4: Put one sock in the net
Drop a second rolled sock just inside the hamper so it looks like they already scored. Instant rematch requests.
Pro Tips:
- • Use dirty-clothes socks you were tossing in anyway.
- • A sticky note on the hamper that says “Home 1, Kids 0” is very funny.
- • Skip hard toys as pucks; they bounce into radiators.
- • Do this at bedtime so the “arena” is the last thing they see.
