Tiny logging season came to the kitchen. Your elf raised a cabin out of cinnamon sticks on a cutting board and is standing in the doorway like a proud homesteader. The house will smell amazing, and you get to say “we look with our noses, not our mouths.” If you already have a posable holiday elf, skip to the recipe. If you don't, start with the setup kit.

Treat the cabin as a display, not a snack, so cinnamon sticks stay off little tongues.

You Will Need This:

  • • Your holiday elf
  • • A cutting board
  • • A handful of cinnamon sticks from the spice rack
  • • A pinch of whole cloves for a path (optional)
  • • Optional: mini spice jars so the cabin can have a tiny spice-rack neighborhood without opening every bottle in the cabinet.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1: Lay the homestead board

Put a cutting board on the counter away from the stove. This is a display, not a simmer pot. Wipe the board so sticks do not pick up onion smell.

Step 2: Stack a simple cabin

Make a square of cinnamon sticks and add a couple as a roof. Tape is allowed if the cabin is structurally hilarious. You do not need log-cabin engineering.

Step 3: Move the homesteader in

Stand your elf in the doorway with a stick as a walking staff. A mini spice jar nearby looks like a neighbor. Keep loose spices from rolling onto the floor.

Step 4: No tasting

If kids ask to chew a stick, that is your cue to pack the cabin after the photo. Whole spices are not candy. Store the sticks back in their jar when you are done.

Pro Tips:

  • • Cutting board keeps spice oils off the counter.
  • • A four-wall cabin is enough; skip the two-story dream home.
  • • This is not a taste test, even if it smells like cookies.
  • • Keep the board away from a hot stove.

Cooling Rack Bunk

Your elf claimed a cold cooling rack as a bunk with an oven mitt for a pillow. No dough, no hot pans, just baker’s lights-out.
