Charging Station Chaos: Cord Wrangler

Published on August 27, 2025
The charging pile finally met its match, and the match is losing. Your elf is tangled in unplugged cords like they tried to organize the family phones and started a rope rescue instead. If you already have a posable holiday elf, skip to the recipe. If you don't, start with the setup kit.
Unplug every charger first and never cover a warm adapter or a charging phone with the elf or a cloth.
You Will Need This:
- • Your holiday elf
- • A few unplugged charging cables
- • A nightstand or kitchen charging tray
- • Optional: tiny laptop set if you want a closed mini laptop for the wrangler to sit on, unplugged.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Unplug the whole station
Pull every cable out of the wall and off warm bricks. The scene is comedy; a covered charger is not.
Step 2: Make a gentle tangle
Loop two or three cool cables into a loose nest, not a knot you will hate later. It should look like overnight overtime, not a hardware-store disaster.
Step 3: Sit the wrangler in it
Place the elf in the nest with one cable “lassoed” over a shoulder. Kids will accuse them of stealing screen time, which is the point.
Step 4: Add a “do not disturb” joke
Lay a sticky note that says “Charging… the elf” on a powered-off phone. Keep the real phones elsewhere so nobody grabs a prop and misses the bus.
Pro Tips:
- • Use spare cables, not the one Dad needs at 7:05.
- • A closed laptop (unplugged) makes a great stage.
- • Never drape felt over a power brick, even if it feels barely warm.
- • Coil the cords after breakfast so this gag does not become a real mess.
