Couch Cushion Cave: Lost Remote Expedition

The couch ate the remote again, so your elf launched a rescue. They are in a cushion cave with a flashlight energy and crumbs that definitely belong to someone else. If you already have a posable holiday elf, skip to the recipe. If you don't, start with the setup kit.
Do not leave the cushion cave as a toddler climbing gym, and keep batteries and the real remote where you can find them after the gag.
You Will Need This:
- • Your holiday elf
- • Two couch cushions
- • The TV remote (optional but funny)
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Tilt a cushion cave
Lean one seat cushion against the back cushions to make a low tent. Kids see an expedition the second the couch looks “wrong.”
Step 2: Plant the remote
Slide the remote just inside the opening like buried treasure. If you cannot spare it, a TV guide or snack wrapper still reads as loot.
Step 3: Send in the explorer
Lie the elf on their belly at the mouth of the cave, reaching in. Mid-rescue is funnier than sitting on top of the cushions.
Step 4: Leave a crumb clue
Set two pretzels or a popcorn kernel at the entrance like a trail, then vacuum later. The “they followed the snacks” story always lands.
Pro Tips:
- • Do this after the last show so nobody needs the remote at 9 p.m.
- • A phone flashlight aimed at the cave is great for the photo, then turn it off.
- • Put the cushions back in the morning so the sofa is sit-able.
- • If your dog nests in couch forts, skip this or close the room overnight.
