The sock drawer became a maze, and your elf is lost on purpose. They are peeking over a divider like the cheese at the end is a matching pair. If you already have a posable holiday elf, skip to the recipe. If you don't, start with the setup kit.
Do not leave a dresser drawer pulled out as a toddler climbing step; crack it only a few inches or stage the maze on top of the dresser.
You Will Need This:
- • Your holiday elf
- • A sock or utensil drawer with dividers
- • A pair of socks as the “prize”
- • Optional: pack of cut-to-fit drawer dividers if your drawer doesn't have any and you want to build the maze yourself.
- • Optional: six-pack of doll socks if you want a tiny pair waiting as the prize at the end.
- • Optional: tiny three-drawer dresser if you want a mini dresser where the maze starts.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Keep the drawer safe
If little climbers live here, dump two divider trays onto the dresser top instead of leaving a drawer hanging open. Same maze, no step stool.
Step 2: Make a crooked path
Shift socks so there is a winding gap between sections. It should look like a puzzle, not a tidy Marie Kondo moment.
Step 3: Place the runner
Sit the elf in a middle compartment, looking the wrong way. Kids will shout directions like it is a video game.
Step 4: Plant the prize sock
Hang one sock over the far divider like a flag. Matching pairs as treasure is a joke every parent understands.
