Fishbowl Lookout: Aquarium Watch

The fish got a night watch, and the watch is taking it personally. Your elf is on the tank stand peering in like the goldfish might make a break for it. If you already have a posable holiday elf, skip to the recipe. If you don't, start with the setup kit.
Keep the elf completely outside the water, do not rest them on a lid that could fall in, and wash hands after touching tank equipment.
You Will Need This:
- • Your holiday elf
- • A fish tank or goldfish bowl
- • The stand or lid (closed, dry)
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Close the lid
Make sure the tank is covered and the elf is on the dry stand, never on an open rim. Fish stay in; felt stays out.
Step 2: Pick a viewing window
Sit the elf at the front glass at kid-eye height. The stare-down with a goldfish is the whole comedy.
Step 3: Give them binocular hands
Cup both hands around their eyes like binoculars, or have them point at the fish. Kids will narrate a nature documentary immediately.
Step 4: Leave a “shift snack”
Set the fish-food container nearby, closed. It looks like rations for the watch, not an invitation to overfeed.
Pro Tips:
- • Do not tap the glass for the photo; the fish hate that.
- • A tiny paper captain hat is cute; keep it dry.
- • If you only have a beta bowl, pose on the table beside it, not on the rim.
- • Wipe fingerprints after so the tank does not look foggy all day.
