Paper Plane Pilot: Living Room Launch

Published on October 11, 2026
Someone held flight school on the coffee table. Your elf is frozen mid-throw, and the paper planes already landed all over the living room. If you already have a posable holiday elf, skip to the recipe. If you don't, start with the setup kit.
Keep planes on the table and couch, not where someone will slip on them in the hall.
You Will Need This:
- • Your holiday elf
- • Three paper airplanes
- • The coffee table
- • One book as a mountain
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Fold a tiny fleet
Fold three simple paper planes. Park two on the coffee table and stick the third nose-first into a book, like it hit a mountain.
Step 2: Clear the runway
Slide remotes aside. You only need a palm-sized launch spot at the near edge of the table.
Step 3: Freeze the pilot
Stand the elf at the table edge with one arm stretched forward, as if the plane just left their hand. The other hand can hold a spare plane. Knees bent. Eyes on the book mountain.
Step 4: Log the flight
A sticky note under the elf that says “Watch this!” Kids will want to throw the planes. That is the encore.
Pro Tips:
- • The forward arm is the whole joke. A still elf just looks like they are holding trash.
- • One plane in a book looks like a crash landing, which kids love.
- • Notebook paper folds faster than printer paper at bedtime.
- • Put the planes in the recycling after the reveal.
