Sock Ball Bowling: Hallway Lane

Published on October 4, 2026
The hallway became a bowling lane. Your elf is mid-throw, the sock ball has not left their hand, and the pins are already nervous. If you already have a posable holiday elf, skip to the recipe. If you don't, start with the setup kit.
Keep the lane against a wall, not across a dark stair. Paper rolls should be empty and light.
You Will Need This:
- • Your holiday elf
- • One balled sock
- • Three empty paper rolls
- • A clear stretch of hallway
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Set the pins
Stand three empty paper rolls in a little triangle at the end of a short hallway stretch, close to a wall.
Step 2: Load the ball
Roll one sock into a tight ball. It should look throwable, not like laundry that fell.
Step 3: Freeze the bowler
Stand the elf a few steps from the pins, one arm swung back holding the sock, the other arm out for balance. Knees bent. Eyes on the pins. The throw is the idea.
Step 4: Call the shot
A sticky note on the wall that says “Strike!” Kids can actually bowl in the morning. Then the sock goes back to the pair.
Pro Tips:
- • The pulled-back arm is what makes it bowling.
- • Three pins photograph better than ten.
- • A bright sock is a better ball than a white one on a pale floor.
- • Do not build the lane at the top of the stairs.
