Homework can wait. Your elf turned the spare binder clips into a tiny mountain and started climbing, about three inches off the desk. If you already have a posable holiday elf, skip to the recipe. If you don't, start with the setup kit.

Keep clips closed so they cannot pinch fingers, and build the pile away from the edge of the desk.

You Will Need This:

  • • Your holiday elf
  • • Six to eight binder clips
  • • A homework desk
  • • One pencil as a flagpole
  • • Optional: posable holiday elf if you want hands and feet that can hold the pose.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1: Clear a base camp

Close the laptop and slide loose paper aside. You need a palm-sized patch of desk, not the whole homework pile.

Step 2: Stack the peak

Pile the clips into a small pyramid, handles out like ridges. Closed clips only. Stop before it looks like an office exploded.

Step 3: Start the climb

Pose the elf on the side of the pile, one hand up, one foot on a clip. A pencil stuck in the top clip is the flag.

Step 4: Leave the route note

A sticky note on the desk that says “I made it to the top!” is the whole map. Put the clips back in the cup afterward.

Pro Tips:

  • • Black clips look like rock. Colored clips look like a playground. Pick a mood.
  • • Three clips is a hill. Eight is a mountain. More than that is a mess.
  • • Face the climb toward the chair a kid actually uses.
  • • Do not build this on a desk you need for a morning meeting.
