The kitchen chair is the landing spot. Your elf is sitting on it with a potholder held high over their head, and the whole scene says “wheee.” If you already have a posable holiday elf, skip to the recipe. If you don't, start with the setup kit.

Use a cool, dry potholder and keep the chair away from the stove.

You Will Need This:

  • • Your holiday elf
  • • A clean square potholder
  • • A kitchen chair
  • • A clear floor around the chair
  • • Optional: posable holiday elf if you want hands and feet that can hold the pose.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1: Park the chair

Pull one chair a few inches from the table so the back is the whole set. Check that the floor around it is clear.

Step 2: Open the chute

Sit the elf on the chair seat. Hold a clean potholder above their hat with both of their hands, so it spreads out like a parachute. Do not tie anything around their neck.

Step 3: Sell the landing

Legs dangle. Toes point a little out. The elf should look like they just floated down onto the chair and are proud of it.

Step 4: Mark the landing

A sticky note on the seat that says “Wheee!” is plenty. Leave the oven mitts and the stove alone.

Pro Tips:

  • • A bright potholder reads as a parachute from across the room. A dark one disappears.
  • • Both hands have to be up. One hand looks like they are hanging laundry.
  • • Skip this if the chair wobbles.
  • • The potholder goes back on its hook before anyone cooks.
