Sponge Harbor: Dry Sink Dock

Published on September 29, 2026
The sink is a harbor, and the water stays off. Your elf is the captain, a dry sponge is the boat, and a spoon is the oar. If you already have a posable holiday elf, skip to the recipe. If you don't, start with the setup kit.
Keep the sink dry and the faucet off so the elf never sits in a puddle.
You Will Need This:
- • Your holiday elf
- • A dry kitchen sponge
- • An empty sink
- • A spoon for an oar
- • Optional: posable holiday elf if you want hands and feet that can hold the pose.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Dry the dock
Run a towel around the sink so the basin is actually dry. Close the stopper only if it stays flat. No standing water.
Step 2: Launch the sponge
Set the dry sponge in the basin like a little boat, scrub side down. Skip soap suds. A second sponge behind it is a whole fleet if you want one.
Step 3: Post the captain
Stand the elf in the dry sink beside the sponge, both hands on a spoon like an oar. Face the kitchen doorway so the captain is greeting the crew.
Step 4: Hang the tiny flag
A sticky note on the faucet that says “All aboard!” is the flag. Turn the faucet handle so it cannot drip overnight.
Pro Tips:
- • A new sponge looks like a boat. A grimy one looks like a chore.
- • The sink stays dry. The joke is the dock, not a bath.
- • A second sponge behind the first looks like a fleet.
- • In the morning, the sponge can actually wash a plate.
