White noise was not white enough, apparently. Your elf is hunched over a miniature radio, fine-tuning a station that only elves can hear. Kids will check the real sound machine, which is still doing its job, and then laugh at the tiny pirate radio next to it. If you already have a posable holiday elf, skip to the recipe. Leave the real sound machine on its usual setting and let the elf twiddle a toy radio instead.

- • A nightstand
- • The real sound machine left untouched
- • A sticky note playlist
- • Optional: tiny radio so the knob-twiddle can happen on a toy instead of the baby’s real sound machine.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Do not touch the real machine
Leave the household sound machine on the setting that actually helps someone sleep. This gag sits beside it, not on top of it. Unplug nothing that is keeping a baby asleep.
Step 2: Set the tiny radio
Place the miniature radio on the nightstand with the elf’s fingers on a knob. A sticky note that says “Ocean waves (remix)” is plenty of joke. Keep cords untangled.
Step 3: Pose the overnight DJ
Sit your elf close enough to look busy, far enough that they will not knock the real machine. Face the scene toward the bed so the first person up sees the playlist. Keep the volume gag visual only.
Step 4: Protect the sleep setup
If the nightstand is crowded, move a book, not the sound machine. In the morning, kids can “retune” the toy. Your real white noise should still be exactly how you left it.
