Whiteboard Weather Report: Snow Forecast

Your elf took over the family whiteboard and issued a very official snow forecast. Draw a simple sun-and-snow doodle, sit the elf on the marker tray, and leave a “school is maybe closed” joke. It is a two-minute morning-show setup that makes the command center on the fridge feel like a news desk. If you already have a posable holiday elf, skip to the recipe. Use washable or dry-erase markers with caps on extra markers, keep caps out of toddler reach, and skip permanent markers.

- • A whiteboard, fridge board, or paper on the fridge
- • A dry-erase marker
- • The marker tray or a magnet clip
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Clear a forecast board
Wipe a corner of the whiteboard or fridge calendar so you have a small weather box. If you do not have a whiteboard, tape a sheet of paper to the fridge. Keep magnets from dropping onto the floor.
Step 2: Draw a tiny forecast
Draw a cloud, a few dots for snow, and a big 32° that is probably wrong on purpose. Cap the marker as soon as you finish. A second color for “tomorrow” makes it look extra official.
Step 3: Seat the meteorologist
Sit your elf on the marker tray or on a nearby counter with a capped marker in both hands. You can also clip them to the fridge with a clip magnet that holds clothing, not hair. Face the kitchen.
Step 4: Sign off the broadcast
Write “Back after cereal.” under the doodle. In the morning, let kids add their own forecast, then erase the board before it becomes a permanent mural. Recap every marker so they do not dry out.

- • A fridge whiteboard is better than a high wall board kids cannot see.
- • Write the kid’s name as the station, like “Emma Weather.”
- • Blue marker snow on a white board photographs clearly.
- • If you only have paper, a crayon forecast still counts.
