Out of elf ideas tonight? Use the room you are standing in

It is late. The list you bookmarked in November is used up. The Pinterest board is the same six photos you already rebuilt. You are standing in one room, and you need a spot for your holiday elf before you go to bed.

Elfie Spot Finder is built for that night. It is an iPhone app. The live listing requires iOS 15.1 or later. There is no Android app. The App Store describes the job in three steps: snap a photo of any room, get a hiding-spot idea, place the elf. How it works walks those steps on the live UI.

That is a different job from a hiding-spot list. A list — a parent-blog roundup, a catalog app, or a Pinterest board — shows a photo someone else already staged. You try to rebuild it here. Open the app and tap Find a New Spot. The home screen says Scan your room for magic. Point the camera at the room you are standing in. One wide frame is enough: floor, a wall, the furniture that is actually here. You pick the room. The app does not invent a house it has not seen.

The listing's next line is that Elfie reveals hiding spots kids will not guess. In the app that lands on a Perfect Spot Found card: a name for the setup, what to use, and how to set it up, then Use This Spot or Try Another. If the first card wants a climb, a prop you do not have, or more than a minute, tap Try Another. You are not obligated to stage the first idea.

The homepage says the app uses AI to suggest spots from the room and that it "never repeats spots." Those are product claims on the live site and store, not a lab test. This page does not explain how the model works.

Place the elf. The store's third step is to place your elf and sleep. After you use a spot, the app shows a Perfect Shot screen. Buttons on that screen are Save & Share, Retake, and Save Only. The homepage also says you can keep those photos in an in-app gallery. That is a product claim, not a test of the gallery.

That is the loop: photo, idea, place, save. About 90 seconds if the first usable card is good enough. Then go to bed.

What it costs

The app is free to download. The App Store listing and the FAQ both say the same thing: 3 free pictures, then $5.99 per year for Elfie Spot Finder Pro. The yearly plan auto-renews unless you turn auto-renew off in your Apple ID settings at least 24 hours before the period ends. Version 1.0.1 notes on the store replaced a trial with the 3-picture allowance. There is no monthly plan on the live store. Manage or cancel in your Apple ID account settings after purchase. Room photos

Camera and photo-library access happen when you choose to use photo features. Room photos quotes the live privacy policy (local storage, optional cloud sync if you turn that on) and the App Store privacy label, which currently says Data Not Collected. That page does not resolve the difference. This page does not either.

Safety, tonight

Do not climb. Do not use open flame, a stove, or a space heater. Do not block a stair, a door, or an exit. If a card wants a chair or a high shelf and you are too tired to do that safely, tap Try Another.
